vancouver 2010 by fboosmanOn Monday, I got up like I would almost every day. I got dressed, ate breakfast and then walked to school. It was like just any other day, except later we were going to go down to Lewis Park to see the Olympic Torch Run ceremony!

But before that, we still had to do a few things first. We went to the computer lab so that we could do some work on our blogs. Once we had finished that(at 9:45 A.M.), it was time for us to go to the buses and leave for Lewis Park. It took about 15-20 minutes to get there after we had left the school, so we didn’t get there until about 10:00 A.M. but, we still had a little way to go before we were there. We still had to walk to the stage area, where there was a giant mass of people watching performances on the stage.

I watched a few of the performances(which were really good!), but then I ran into some of my old friends from last year, and my teacher from last year. their school was also at the ceremony! After a while of talking to them, I noticed that they had Coca Cola bottles, and asked where they were getting them from. At the edge of the park, there were a whole bunch of booths and stuff that were handing out free hot chocolate and cola! There were also some other things being handed out like tambourines and glowing cola bottles! I didn’t get one though because I wasn’t there when they were being handed out.

While me and some classmates were exploring, the Olympic Torch finally came in! That was what we had been waiting for the whole time, and I thought that it was great to see it. At the same time, there were SAR Techs parachuting down from a helicopter, but they were a bit late(they were supposed to come before the torch did), so not many people really noticed them. The person who had the torch then came up to the stage and lit the main torch with it, and some more performances came on after that.

Our class got to take a picture with Mr. Pullin, one of the people who were running with the torch. I also got to hold the torch because there was a person letting us hold it for a bit. I thought it was quite heavy for a torch, but I wasn’t the person who designed it! We then got into a line and walked back to the buses because it was time for us to leave.

Once we got back to the school, we ate our lunches and then we worked on a list of the things that happened that day.

Has the Olympic Torch passed through your town? Or have the Olympics been held close to where you live? Leave a comment and I’ll get back to you as soon as I can!

Poplar Hill Pumpkin Patch by zizzybaloobahHello readers!

It’s finally that time of year when we all get to dress up as monsters and go trick or treating! Every year I have gone out, but I’m not sure if I am this year because I think I’m getting to old for it. I think this year I’m just going to help my dad with handing out candy. But if I did go, I would be… A raccoon! Just kidding. I would go as a vampire. I think that vampires are my favorite monster(other than a werewolf). Besides, I bet that a werewolf costume would get too hot even if it was cold out(which it usually is where I live).

Other than the dressing up part, I also like to get the candy! All of the delicious chocolates and gummy things to eat! My favorite kind of chocolate bar to get would probably be coffee crisp. I think that they taste really good. If I didn’t get any of those(probably impossible not to get any, but I might not), my other favorite is a kit kat bar. They are also really good.

Where I live, most of the biggest candy bars are given out at a suburb called “Crown Isle”. They pretty much always give out giant candy bars, like the ones you would buy at tills. But still, it’s nice to try to get to as many houses as you can so you have a lot of candy(not too much though, because then you won’t be able to eat it all). Last year I had to throw out most of my candy because I didn’t eat enough of it so it went bad.

What is your favorite holiday? Is yours Halloween? Leave a comment and I’ll reply to you as soon as I can!

7 by mag3737Last  year our teacher asked us to write a post about 7 random facts about us, so we all did. But, this year, my new teacher also asked us to write 7 random facts about us, so I’m going to write 7 new ones(there are a lot of random facts about me). Its always fun to do a post like this because the possibilities could be endless, which just makes it even more fun to write them because you have to decide what 7 facts you would want to include! Here is an entire new batch of them about me, you should compare them to my last 7 random facts post!

  1. My favorite colours are lime green and orange(I like lime green more though)
  2. My favorite kind of ice cream is called gelato(its an Italian ice cream, not quite the same as normal ice cream, but it tastes way better!)
  3. My favorite animal is a monkey(if my Voki and my monkey Jimmy didn’t already give it away)
  4. I’ve had 3 pet dogs(Abby was my first dog who now lives with my mom and sisters, when we had Abby we also bought her brother Blue, but we had to give him away because he had something wrong with his hip and now my dad and I have Jade, a really hyper awesome dog)
  5. I’ve always wanted to go to the Caribbean and just spend a week  or so there relaxing and swimming
  6. I’m really allergic to cats(I sneeze a lot around them, then it turns hard for me to breathe after a while)
  7. I’m writing 7 random facts about me, my favorite number is 7, I’m on number 7 and I’m in grade 7!

My perfect holiday would be in Australia because I think that the warm weather there would be really nice.

I would also want to go to Australia because it has a lot of really cool animals that live there, like kangaroos Koalaand koalas. Kangaroos and koalas are also 2 of my favorite animals. If I went to Australia, I would also probably take surfing lessons because I really want to learn how to surf. It looks really fun, and if I learn to surf I could learn to snowboard(I don’t snowboard, but I know how to ski). On the island where we live there is a place to go skiing and snowboarding called Mount Washington. There are a whole bunch of tracks that you can ski or snowboard down, some of them being more difficult then the others.

I would also just like to wade around in the ocean by Australia, and find seashells. When I go to the beach I love to collect them. I don’t really like when all I can find are broken shells though because they don’t look as nice as normal shells do. I would have to be careful not to step on a stone fish though!

I would also want to visit Sydney because it has a whole bunch of places to go and things to see(maybe the museum?). I would also want to go on one of those tours of the outback.

In conclusion, I think that taking a vacation to Australia would be just awesome.

Hello readers!

During the summer, my blog didn’t have any updates. I was just too busy to do anything on it. But, this year I’m going to keep blogging because my grade 7 teacher is a friend of Mrs. Smith, and she wants to blog throughout the year too!

I’m not going to the same school anymore because I moved closer to a different one. Mrs. Smith suggested that I go into Mrs. Braidwood’s class because Mrs. Braidwood wanted to blog. I’m glad that I got into Mrs. Braidwood’s class because if I didn’t, I probably really wouldn’t have had time at school to write posts and update my blog. Our new blog is called “The Ripple Effect“, and we have already written a few posts on it.

The rest of my class will get their individual blogs probably by the end or middle of October, but I don’t know exactly when they will.

Hi!
Our class has done a lot of amazing things this year. In this post I will try to remember what we have done as a class throughout the year!

Camp Hornby
Well, the first really fun thing we did was go to a camp on Hornby Island. It wasn’t only our class that went though, every grade six class got to go. We did a lot of really fun things like kayaking, high ropes, games in the forest and the climbing tower. My favorite thing that we did at Hornby was probably the kayaking because I think it is really fun. My friend Hayden fell out of his kayak when his group did it, and he had to swim back to the shore (and that day the water was really cold!)!

I was in a tent group with Hayden, Kris and Julian, and on the first night Kris and Hayden both fell asleep in the first 10 minutes or so! Me and Julian didn’t fall asleep that fast. Oh no. I’m guessing that it was somewhere between another 2-3 hours before me and Julian fell asleep. When we weren’t asleep, me and Julian talked about a video game. I can’t remember what it was though.

On the second night, I had a bit too much to eat and I wasn’t feeling very well (I think I had too much salad at dinner). After dinner, I really had to go to the bathroom (which smelled horrible). I had to wait a while before I got to use it, and when I did get to use it someone kicked the door, so when I tried to open it, The hinges were stuck somehow so the door wouldn’t swing open. I told the other people waiting to go and get Mr. Green to open it. When I got out, it was time for the campfire, so I went to where it was and I sat beside my friends. We had hot chocolate and some chips for a snack. I threw one of my doritos into the fire pit, and then it caught on fire. It didn’t look like it burned when it was done, but instead it looked like it had melted (it was very strange). After we had finished our snack, we sang some campfire songs and then it was time to go to our tents. I had to go to the bathroom again, so when I got back to the tent, Kris, Julian and Hayden were fooling around with the giant flashlight I brought. They were turning it on and off and whenever it would go off, Julian would change how he was standing. It made me very dizzy. Once they were done, I didn’t feel good at all, so I stepped outside and I threw up in one of the bushes!

We also did a lot of other really fun things this year, like:

  • Spring Musical
  • Winter Musical
  • Christmas Gift Exchange
  • Our Class Election
  • Blogging
  • Howlin’ Halloween Happening

Hi girls and guys!

Today I am going to talk about a really fun online game for your computer, Flyff! It is an online game that comes from Korea (which means the graphics are really awesome!). It’s also really great because it’s free! If you plan on downloading this game, I suggest using the down loader from Big Download because it works the best.

World Map

There are a lot of continents that you can go to in Flyff, so you’re not always on the same continent as you were before. When you first make your character, they always start out on Flaris. I would say that once you reach level 20, you should then fly to the continent that has medium-level monsters so you can get more experience that is called Saint Morning. You should train in Saint Morning until you are around level 45 (The Continent of Garden of Rhisis would be a good place to train if you’re around level 30 too) and then you should fly to Darkon 1 to do your training up until level 60. After you do the job change quest and once your about level 75, you should do the rest of your training in Darkon 3, where there are really high level monsters where you would get a lot of experience.

In Flyff, when you make your account you can have more than 1 character on your account. You can have 24 characters in total, 3 on each server. When you start playing a new character, you start out as a Vagrant. Every person who makes a character always starts out as a Vagrant until you reach level 15. Once your level 15, you can do the job change quest so that you have a new job (I did the Mercenary job quest on my first person). There are four jobs that you can choose from, and once you reach level 60 on your character, you can do the second job change quest. Here are the classes and what they are good at.

Acrobat

Acrobats in Flyff are the people who use ranged weapons, such as bows and amazingly they can also use yoyos. The bows don’t exactly do as much damage as the yoyos, and you have to but A LOT of arrows if you plan on being an acrobat who uses bows. If you are going to use yoyos, I suggest that you use most of your skill points on Strength because it makes the yoyo do more damage. Acrobats mainly use their skill points on Strength, Stamina or Dexterity because they have no need of Intelligence.

Jester

If you are an Acrobat, at level 60 you can choose to become a Jester. The Jester uses the yoyo to do their ranged attacks. They have quite a bit of good skills because they can enchant their yoyo to inflict poison damage, fire damage or something called Enchant Blood (I’m not quite sure what it is). If you are an Acrobat who is going to be a jester, use all of your stat points on Strength and Stamina because Dexterity increases the striking power of the bow.

Ranger

If you are an Acrobat, at level 60 you can choose to become a Ranger. The Ranger uses the bow to perform their attacks. They will need a lot of arrows too because you can’t use the bow without any arrows. Rangers aren’t particularly strong unless they have full Dexterity so they can hit high. You are still going to want to have a bit of Stamina so your defence is really good.

Mercenary

In Flyff, the Mercenary is the character who uses swords. Although a sword might sound good to you, think carefully about whether or not you would pick a Mercenary as your job because they hit very low unless they have a lot of Strength, and even when their Strength is really good they still don’t hit as high as you would want them to. A Mercenary would mainly want Strength with a bit of Stamina so you have some defence.

Blade

If you are a Mercenary, at level 60 you can choose to become a Blade. Blades are your basic assassins, Hitting very fast and quite high. The best thing about the Blade is that they can double wield, which means you can wield two swords when you’re a Blade. Although Blades hit quite fast, I would recommend getting at least 30 Dexterity so they hit even faster than they already do. Blades also have very high defence, which makes them a very good class.

Knight

If you are a Mercenary, at level 60 you can choose to become a Knight. Knights have the highest defence out of every class in the game, which makes them very hard to hit. The bad thing about Knights is that they can only wield two-handed weapons, which means they attack very slowly. Knights also hit high too, but since they hit so slowly I don’t really think you would want to be a Knight.

Magician

In Flyff, the Magician is probably one of the best classes, considering how high they hit when they are a very low level (The Magician is my personal favorite class in the game because they can hit 1200 when they are level 25, meaning that they kill most monsters in 4-8 hits.). Magicians have slightly low defence, so I suggest buying items that will get your defence up like a Plug Earring or something. Magicians use Intelligence so they can hit higher, and both of their second jobs will probably need to have full Intelligence to hit really high.

Elementor

If you are a Magician, at level 60 you can choose to become an Elementor. Elementors are a very good class because they use spells that have different elements to their advantage. Say if you are killing a monster that has an element of fire, you could just use your water-type spells so you are hitting more effectively on them. The Elementor is really good, but their armour looks slightly like a graduating student’s robe and hat.

Psykeeper

If you are a Magician, at level 60 you can choose to become a Psykeeper (Which I plan to do once I’m level 60). Psykeepers use slightly evil or dark spells to kill their enemies. The Psykeeper has really cool armour, and they can hit probably between 20000-50000 once they are the highest level, which means that they pretty much hit the highest in the game, along with the Elementor hitting probably about the same.

Assist

In Flyff, the Assist is the character that can heal, revive and buff other characters (Buffs can do a number of things, from getting you better defence to making you hit an additional 40 damage). Assists can either use a Stick or a Knuckle to attack with. If you’re an Assist, you should put most of your stat points on intelligence so that your buffs last longer.

Billposter

If you are an Assist, at level 60 you can choose to become a Billposter. Billposters are one the most self-efficient classes in the game because they can still use buffs, but since they use Knuckles they are still very good at attacking. The Billposter’s skill moves mainly consist of AoE attacks (Area of Effect, which means they can hit multiple enemies with these attacks at once). AoE moves are really good if you are being attacked by 2 or more monsters so you can kill them faster. A Billposter will probably want to have a balance between Strength, Stamina and Intelligence, or just go full Intelligence and some Strength, or have around 90 Intelligence and full Strength.

Ringmaster

If you are an Assist, at level 60 you can choose to become a Ringmaster. Ringmasters are an essential character to have if you are training with your friends at monsters that are a higher level than you because the Ringmaster’s skills are mainly all buffs. If you are a Ringmaster, I suggest getting full intelligence so that your buffs last long, and than some Stamina so you have good defence and health (Stamina puts up your defence as well as your health).

Pets

You can have a variety of pets in the game. To obtain a pet, you will first need an egg. Eggs can drop from all monsters that are level 20 and up. You could also just buy a pet from some one’s shop in the game. If you get an egg, you are going to need a lot of pet feed to get it’s experience up. Once you get an egg, talk to the Pet Tamer NPC in any city to start the quest that you can hatch your egg from. You must get your egg’s experience to 99.99%, and than talk to the Pet Tamer. The Pet Tamer will then hatch your egg, and you can discover what kind of pet your egg was holding. From an egg, you can get a: Babari Lion, White Tiger, Old Fox, Rabbit, Unicorn, Griffin or a Dragon. Your pet has ranks, and as you get your pet up to higher ranks, you will discover that the bonus it gives you will become larger, and it’s color will change. Their are ranks: D, C, B, A and S. Rank S is the best rank, and once your pet is rank S, it’s true color will be revealed. Your pet has lives once you get it. If your pet runs out of lives, you will have to revive it. You can’t revive a rank D or a rank C pet, so if your rank D or rank C pet runs out of lives, there will be no way to revive it. If you are going to buy a pet, don’t buy the one that sounds the coolest to you because certain pets go better with certain classes because of the bonus it will give you. What I mean by that is that if you are a Magician, the only pet that you would really want would either be a Unicorn or an Old Fox, which means that a Magician has no need of a Dragon because of it’s bonus. Pay close attention to what the bonus of your pet is so that you can make sure that your pet is a good pet for the class that you have chosen.

You are probably wondering why this game is called Flyff. If you are, it is called that because once you reach level 20, you can buy a board or a broom and fly around to your destination, using the WASD keys to move around your board or broom, henceforth, Fly For Fun.

Once you reach level 120, you can then start the Master Quest. The Master Quest is very hard because your level gets put back to 60, and then you have to get it back to level 120 with 99.99% experience so you can then start the Hero Quest. Once you have finished the Hero Quest, you will no longer see your displayed level. Instead, it will just say you’re a Hero.

I think that this is a really great game, and since it’s online, it just adds even more to the fun. If you would like more information on this game, you should visit the Flyff Wiki. I am giving this game a 10/10.

I want to be a logger or a video game designer!

But, I would like to do both because I enjoy video games, and logging makes a lot of money (but there might not be any more trees left on the planet!). As you can see, video games are a passion for me. I would like to try to make my own one day, and I already have a few ideas…

I would want to design a MMORPG (Massive-Multi Player-Online-Role-Playing-Game) because I like MMORPGs a lot. I also like games where you have to kill aliens (like Halo 3 for example). Or, maybe I could try to design a MMORPG that involves shooting aliens because a MMORPG like that would be awesome! It would be a game where you can fly around on your little awesomeness space ship to other planets where strange creature things live that you can kill with your gun!

Logging is quite fun too, but most people would blame loggers for global warming. If no people would log the trees, there wouldn’t be any toilet paper left on the world, and that wouldn’t be the greatest thing…

Loggers also make a lot of money, according to my dad’s old logger friend. my dad said that he would make nearly $500 a day from logging. I can’t seem how it can get you that much money though.

Maybe I could design a game where your job is to cut down virtual trees! I think that that would be funny, but probably not very fun. I guess I could do that so that people could get a taste of logging if they couldn’t do it yourselves. Maybe that would be a fun game after all…

What do you wanna be when you grow up? Do you think a virtual logging game would be fun, or lame? Leave a comment telling me if you think that a virtual logging game would be good or not (or you could say what you wanna be when you grow up)!

Look at that picture. Doesn’t it look strange, weird or cool? Well, I think it’s all 3 of those. Do you think you know what it is? If you can’t tell, it is a picture of a computer screen that I took during the Glocal Project. The Glocal Project is a software run by the Arts Umbrella. With this software you can take pictures with web cams and then give them effects, make their borders smaller and give them a random size (like I have with this picture). Arts Umbrella is for art where they teach you things about art and photography.

We have 2 people here that are teaching us about art who came from Arts Umbrella and they are Josh and Francesca (Josh works there and Francesca is a volunteer visiting Canada from Germany). Josh taught us ho to use the software and how to move the pictures from the shared drive into our own folders.

We have taken probably over 1500 pictures in the 2 weeks they have been here, and tomorrow we are going to have an art show at Mark Isfeld (the high school that is pretty much right beside our school). Me and my friend Mitchell worked together on two posters. One of them just has a whole bunch of random pictures, and the other one has pictures of voki things and neon stuff (I like the one with the voki things and neon stuff more than the the other one).

My favorite picture that I have took is the one above. I pointed the webcam at the computer screen and I changed around the size of the pictures on it and I took it. I have many other blue ones like this. It is my favorite picture because I like the shade of blue that is on it. I can’t remember what the glowing orange dots were. Sometimes when you take a picture of the computer screen, it will keep showing the screen over and over again. It looks really cool.

Hi!

I won the Student Blogging Competition for my post Cool Globes!?. I’m glad I won, but that wasn’t even the post that I entered. I entered my post called How Blogging Has Connected Me To A Global Audience.

I can get a 12 month subscription to Edublogs, but I’m not sure if I’m going to use it or not. I’m probably going to give it to one of my readers or classmates. I can also get a badge to show that I won, but I’m not quite sure how to get it on my blog. I’m going to have to try to do that sometime… Or I might ask Ms. Smith to help me do it, because I’m really not sure how myself. A lot of other people won, and some of my classmates won too like Nicholas and Sam( or SpiderSam!).

Here are the other people who won: Makaya06, THS Lit 10, C-O Connections Blog, Read, Write and Knit, Taking It Further, Sacred Heart BLOGATHON!, English Social Studies Blog, Tara’s Blog and New and Fascinating English Blog.

I would like to thank Ms. Waters for organizing all of the blogging competitions, all of the people who entered the competition and Ms. Smith for being such a great teacher and letting us have blogs! Keep up the great posts everybody!
